We only have two lives. The second one begins when we realize we only have one.

Welcome to The Second Act Project
- aka The SAP -
a safe space filled with inspiring stories of courage, compassion & kindness, in the face of life’s changes.

Life can present new sets of challenges as we age, and sometimes we all need a little inspiration (and a community) to keep going.

The SAP is a place to inspire you to keep putting one foot in front of the other when you feel your life has been turned upside down.

Rest here for a while. You belong here.

WHY I STARTED The SAP

Hi, I’m Jamie and I created this project to champion and celebrate people in various stages of creating their second acts. My own life felt like it came crashing down after the company I devoted my first act to downsized me in the middle of a pandemic. People started reaching out to share their own stories of reinvention in the face of dramatic life change, and I realized, I am not alone. I wanted to share these stories of grit and determination and so The SAP was created. We hope to inspire people to own their own sap story, to believe in themselves and their future, and to never give up in their efforts to reinvent themselves

Our Mission: Own your SAP.

Gratitude

Inner peace comes with finding gratitude. When my grandmother died at 98 years of age, these were some of her final words: “I am so lucky.” I believe that is the ultimate goal for us all, to find a deep gratitude for life right until our final breath. May the stories you read here, on the Second Act Project, help you on that road to seeing what life has given you.

Empowerment

What will be your Second Act? Maybe you want to compete in a major competition, or launch a business, or turn a hobby into your life’s work, or maybe you have a creative spark to share with the world. All big ideas and leaps of faith need support, guidance, and a community of like-minded people to help you get where you want to be. May The Second Act Project empower your dreams.

Empathy

The world needs more empathy, especially right now. You cannot embark on your hero’s journey without a great deal of empathy for those who may have lost themselves along the way. The world is sometimes a cold hard place; may The Second Act Project help to light it up with warmth, and give those who share here a soft place to land.

Helping Journalists Find their Way

The Second Act Project is devoted to sharing authentic stories from people with real experiences about finding their Second Act. This week, we meet Alex Freedman, a former investigative journalist who has launched a new venture to help journalists reinvent themselves in a time of crisis. With media companies shedding jobs in record numbers, Alex’s “Leg Up” career transition service is a godsend for journalists looking to create their own Second Acts.
